Description
At 10.2 ounces, Kindle is lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle fits perfectly in your hands. Kindle is as easy to hold and use as a book. We designed it with long-form reading in mind. When reading for long periods of time, people naturally shift positions and often like to read with one hand. Kindle's page-turning buttons are located on both sides, allowing you to read and turn pages comfortably with one hand from any position. The page-turn buttons now flex inward to prevent any accidental page turns when picking up or handling Kindle. Kindle has a new easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Kindle is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. With Kindle's 25% longer battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly. Whispernet utilizes Amazon's optimized technology plus Sprint's national high-speed (3G) data network to enable you to wirelessly search, discover, and download content on the go. Your books and periodicals are delivered via Whispernet in less than 60 seconds. And unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot.
Reviews
Do you like books? Newspapers? Blogs? It's all here. Easy to read screen that is a nice alternative to back lit displays. It is almost like reading a book. Its heavy enough to notice but disappears in your hand. With hundreds of thousands of titles, and many of those free, its hard not to give this item a good review. Good job Amazon. I love my Kindle.
I gave this as a gift and my husband loves it. It is convenient, simple and easy to handle. You can change the font size to make the print easier to read. You can download new books wirelessly. I also got the Edge leather book cover and the book light. All good quality and easy to use. I got mine through Amazon.
The 5-way controller is way to small, I can't believe that they are selling them this way. That said, once I manage to get to where I want to be (usually involving some four letter words) this device is extremely convenient. Just having the ability to instantly download a book and be able to start reading in an instant was worth the money, not sure about the aggrevation....
I got a Kindle for Christmas and it is the best gift I could have ever gotten. In 3 months I have read over 40 books. Before the kindle I would read maybe 5 books a year. I was tired of buying books and not knowing what to do with them. Having the Kindle is so convienent. As soon as I am done with one book I am on Amazon through my Kindle looking for the next book to read and within 1 minute it is available for me to read, I LOVE that. No more waiting a week or more to get a book. I also live in a small town where there is no bookstore, so access to books is best through the mail, but now I am set with my Kindle. I also love that I can get books for free, most of the free ones that I have gotten I loved, I haven't read a bad book yet and I am pretty picky. But aside from being free there are also books for $1.00 on up, cheaper than a bookstore that is for sure. I would recommend a Kindle to everyone.
