Description
At 10.2 ounces, Kindle is lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle fits perfectly in your hands. Kindle is as easy to hold and use as a book. We designed it with long-form reading in mind. When reading for long periods of time, people naturally shift positions and often like to read with one hand. Kindle's page-turning buttons are located on both sides, allowing you to read and turn pages comfortably with one hand from any position. The page-turn buttons now flex inward to prevent any accidental page turns when picking up or handling Kindle. Kindle has a new easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Kindle is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. With Kindle's 25% longer battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly. Whispernet utilizes Amazon's optimized technology plus Sprint's national high-speed (3G) data network to enable you to wirelessly search, discover, and download content on the go. Your books and periodicals are delivered via Whispernet in less than 60 seconds. And unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot.

i had my kindle for a week and then the screen went white and had black lines
I was reluctant to purchase the Amazon Kindle. It was a lot of money and I had heard some horror stories about these E-Books. However I took a chance and I am most happy that I did. It is amazingly simple to use and ordering books is a snap. The only objection I have is occasionally the price of an e-book is higher than a paperback book, especially one from Wal-Mart. Outside of that I thoroughly enjoy my Kindle. I have read 4 novels so far and have been extremely happy with the ease of reading. I can enlarge the type so I can read without my glasses and narrow the number of words per line making reading faster than with a standard book. The selection of books is very large and I have had no problem with finding different books by different authors.Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 6" Display, Graphite, 3G Works Globally - Latest Generation
Got this just before knee surgery and just recently got around to playing with my Kindle. I live where there is no reception so I downloaded a couple books on my computer and transferred to my Kindle. As I'm not real good at this I called Customer Service and was sooooo pleased with them. He walked me through the process step by step. It's comforting to know they are there and so helpful AND did not make me feel stupid. Very very pleased.
I love love love my Kindle! I bought it last year and I have loved it since then. I recently had a problem with my Kindle, and I called the service support. AMAZING! I have never left a review before but after reading some of the horror stories I just wanted to let everyone know that the customer service was amazing and in a matter of 15 minutes I had a new one shipped! I just want to thank Amazon for their great service! It is especially helpful since I just found out I will be deploying soon! THANK YOU AMAZON!!!
I received a refurbished unit with instructions to plug it to charge it up but there was no power plug on the end of the cord. It took 5 calls or emails to straighten this out, amounting to over a week with the Kindle but no way to use it. That seems a bit much. The service techs were polite and wanted to help but it seemed to take time to find the right person and to straighten out the problem. Once I had the Kindle working, I enjoyed it. This product is evolving. Let's see how well it does in competition with Nook (better IMO) and IPad (Kindle will have to work some to maintain market share with the IPad around.) I purchased a skin and a cover which are essential for protecting the Kindle.
